We Care Volunteers - We believe no one should go hungry!
Board of Directors

Our board of Directors is comprised of our founders and members who have shaped not only who We Care Volunteers is today, they continue to grow in their responsibilities as we meet the changing needs of the community.

We are proud to know that outside of We Care Volunteers, each Board member has contributed to the community, in their own right.

Amber Dobson, President and Founder
Amber actively provides the over 200 meals per night- cooking and preparing from the menus she creates each week. She personally supervises the dinner served each night, and is active in the continued growth of We Care Volunteers. She was raised in a home where volunteering was a way of life. She and her family volunteered at the San Jose Rescue Mission, and she was active throughout her life in the various churches she has attended. In 2010 she relocated to Reno, NV from California. Within months of settling into the community she was introduced to the over 250 inhabitants of the now defunct "Tent City". She recognized a need for someone to supply nutritious home cooked meals to those who did not have the means to provide for themselves. She started this journey by volunteering 3 nights a week, cooking and providing side dishes to compliment the main dish provided by the Reno/Sparks Gospel Mission to feed over 250+ homeless who showed up for a nutritious meal Sunday through Wednesday nights. During that same time she volunteered 30 hours a week at the Mission prepping the food not only that was served those 4 nights to the homeless, but also for the three public homeless shelters too. In October 2010 she formed the group "We Care Volunteers" and expanded feeding the homeless and working poor to four nights a week. This includes shopping, cooking, and transporting the main dish and all of the side dishes, etc., and organizing volunteers to come out and help serve. Amber is Servesafe food handler certified.

She first developed an interest in community service in 2007 by volunteering as a "Big Sister" for the Northern Nevada Big Brothers Big Brothers program. Later in 2010 Riki became involved with feeding the homeless down at "Tent City" where she met Amber and her son Gianni. Riki, Amber and Gianni quickly became friends and found that they shared a passion to help those in need. When Riki was asked to join We Care Volunteers she jumped at the opportunity to be a part of such a loving and helpful group of people.
